Kathy is a qualified Psychotherapist with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy from the Gestalt Institute of Ireland/SETU, as well as a diploma in Mindfulness and Buddhist Psychology from the Karuna Institute in the UK. She is also a trained support group facilitator for people experiencing eating disorders.

As a Gestalt psychotherapist, Kathy believes that therapeutic change happens when both therapist and client pay close attention to the present moment. The work of Gestalt psychotherapy is to discover what needs healing from our past, by noticing how it is showing up in our present, and Kathy is deeply interested in exploring the way our lived experiences not only impact the choices we make, but also shape our relationship to both ourselves and the world.

Her creative and holistic approach focuses on the full experience of the client: their life story, present circumstances and desires for the future; as well as movement and physical sensation in sessions, to support self-awareness, acceptance and change.

Kathy offers her clients a confidential and compassionate space in which to explore the difficulties they are facing and discover their own capacities for healing. She welcomes people who may start therapy because they are suffering from anxiety, abuse, grief and trauma, as well as relationship difficulties, life-transitions and low self-esteem/image. She also welcomes clients who may not have a name for how they are feeling, but know they need support.

Kathy is a Certified Associate member of IAHIP (Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy) and works to their standards and code of ethics.
